The Gonzaga University men's tennis team posted six singles and four doubles victories Friday during the first day of the Gonzaga/Eastern Washington University Tournament, co-hosted by the Bulldogs and Eagles.

Competing in the three-day event are Gonzaga, Eastern Washington, the University of Montana, the University of Idaho, Portland State University, Whitworth College, Lewis-Clark State College and Spokane Community College.

In the singles flight A bracket, Cooper Fratt, Stefan Feddersen and Zach Radetzky all posted victories to advance to the round of 16. Fratt advanced thanks to a straight-set (6-0, 6-4) win over Eastern's Kenneth Norling. Feddersen posted a 6-0, 7-6(5) victory over Idaho's Hugh McDonald. Radetzky, who won the singles B championship at the Portland Invitational last weekend, advanced after losing the first set of a three-set victory (6-7(5), 7-5, 6-2) over Montana's Mikolaj Borkowski. Radetzky has now won all six of his singles matches this season. Roman Dojcak, who earned a bye in the opening round of the flight A bracket, will also compete in the round of 16 Saturday.

The Zags' Zach Peach, Michael Schuster and Logan Napolsky all posted victories in the singles flight B bracket. Peach earned a 7-5, 7-5 straight-set victory over Whitworth's Josh Steele to advance to the round of 16. Schuster advanced by virtue of a default, while Napolsky defeated Jared Watson of SCC in straight-sets (6-2, 6-0).

In doubles play, Gonzaga advanced four doubles teams. The Bulldogs' duo of Charles Adams and Radetzky posted an 8-2 victory over Eastern's Arthur Karas and Nico Riego De Dios. Napolsky and Schuster defeated Josh Steele and Joe Whales of Whitworth 8-6. Fratt and Conor Feeney advanced with an 8-2 victory against Chris McBride and Watson of SCC. Dojcak and Feddersen round out Gonzaga doubles victories, thanks to a demanding 8-1 defeat over David Cysneiros and Alex Weinstein of Montana. All four victorious Bulldog duos will now compete in the round of 16 Saturday morning.

The GU/EWU Tournament continues Saturday and will conclude Sunday. Saturday, doubles play will begin at 9 a.m. on Eastern's campus, followed by singles flight B play. The singles A flight will resume play at Gonzaga's tennis courts, just north of the Martin Centre, at 11:30 a.m. In case of inclement weather, all matches will be played indoors at Eastern.
