Roman Dojcak, of the Gonzaga University men's tennis team, advanced to the quarterfinal round of the singles flight A at the Portland Invitational hosted by Portland State University and the University of Portland at Portland, Ore.

Gonzaga, Portland, Portland State, Eastern Washington University, Linfield College, Whitworth College and the University of Idaho are competing at the three-day event.

Dojcak advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to a straight-set victory (6-1, 6-2) over Yemm of Portland. In the same bracket, Cooper Fratt dropped a decision to Portland's Schleining (6-0, 0-6, 11-9).

In the singles flight B, Zack Radetzky and Charles Adams each earned victories to advance to the round of 16. Radetzky posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Portland State's Allen, while Adams advanced with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-3 victory over Linfield's Dewitt.

In doubles play, the Gonzaga's duos of Dojcak and Stefan Fedderson and Fratt and Conor Feeney each earned victories to advance to the quarterfinals. Dojcak and Fedderson defeated Rye, of Whitworth, and Christopher, of Idaho, by a scored of 8-3. Fratt and Feeney advanced with an 8-6 victory over Kingzett and Reuss of Linfield 8-6. Radeztky and Adams also participated in doubles play, dropping a 9-8 (7-3) decision to Dewitt and Rembold of Linfield.

 

 

The Zags will continue play at the Portland Invitational Saturday and Sunday.
