Richie Frahm's Collegiate Career
Freshman (1996-97): Averaged 14 minutes as a true freshman, appearing in all 27 games in a reserve role...best night was second game of West Coast Conference season at home against Saint Mary's when he hit his first 8 shots and finished 8-for-9 from the field, 4-5 from 3-point range for career-high 20 points, one of three games in double digits...scored 11 points in WCC opener against Santa Clara and at Saint Mary's on final weekend of regular season...20 3-pointers third best on team.
Sophomore (1997-98): Started all 33 of his appearances, sitting out West Coast Conference home game against San Diego with a stiff back…became Gonzaga's third "go-to" guy with Bakari Hendrix and Matt Santangelo…set career high with 24 points in second game of season against Tulsa in Top of the World Classic as Bulldogs pulled upset, Frahm going 7-13 from the field, 5-8 from 3-point range and 5-5 from the free throw line…set career high again with 25 points at home against Saint Mary's with 8-11 night from the field, 5-5 from 3-point range and 4-6 from the line…averaged 12.1 ppg to rank 15th in WCC, his 82.9 free throw percentage (58-70) ranked third, his 44.5 3-point field goal percentage was 3rd and his 2.3 field goals made per game ranked 3rd…77 3-point field goals and 173 attempts led team…averaged 14.1 ppg in WCC games only to rank 11th…after going four straight games midway through the season scoring in single digits, came back to score 128 points over the next seven games for an 18.3 average, a streak which began with 25-point night against Saint Mary's…his 3.8 rpg third on the club behind Bakari Hendrix (7.3) and Axel Dench (4.1)…received WCC honorable mention recognition.
Junior (1998-99): Didn't waste any time making his impact felt, scoring career-high 37 points in second game of the season at Memphis as Bulldogs won Chase NIT first round game…went 14-for-20 from the field, 8-11 from 3-point range to tie the single-game school record for 3-pointers…had one stretch of 14 straight double-digit games…included in that streak was one 7-game stretch where he went 45-for-80 from the field for 56.3 percent, including 22-36 from 3-point range for 61.1 percent…scored 26 points in NCAA Tournament 1st Round win over Minnesota in Seattle, going 7-13 from the field, 5-11 from 3-point range…came back with 15 points against Stanford in 2nd Round and 17 against Florida in NCAA West Region semifinal…went 6-11 from the field against Florida, 5-8 from long range…became the 21st player in Gonzaga history to reach the 1,000-point plateau and ranks 20th with 1,028 points…his 93 3-pointers rank second on the Gonzaga single-season list behind John Rillie's 96 in 1995…ranked 6th in the West Coast Conference in scoring at 14.4 ppg, 7th in free throw percentage at 81.0 percent (81-100), 2nd in 3-point field goal percentage at 42.9 percent (93-217) and second in 3-pointers made/game at 2.7 in 35 outings…named to the All-WCC team.
